Training young people to become literate, accomplished musicians.

Founded 1936

The Meremblum Junior Orchestra was born in December, 1936, when Peter Meremblum called the first rehearsal in the living room of his Hollywood home. His student violinists together with a few of their sisters and brothers who played cello and double bass responded. The next rehearsal was held in a small neighborhood church where 56 members were counted. Starting as a String Ensemble it had, by the end of a year, grown to a fully instrumented young symphony orchestra. Now, more than 63 years later, under the name Peter Meremblum Youth Orchestras, with Ginny Atherton as Music Director, it continues to attract young musicians, all of whom are being trained in the playing of symphonic music, preparing them to remain active as career-minded musicians, enthusiastic amateurs and dedicated concert-goers.
